I purchased this piece from Addie Roanhorse at the 2016 Santa Fe Indian Market. The subject of this painting is Addie’s grandfather, Henry Roanhorse. In 2017, Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders was published. Henry was one of the men killed during the Osage murders. He is mentioned in the book. Addie is employed as a Senior Graphic Designer by the Osage Nation. She lives on the Osage Nation reservation in Northeastern Oklahoma.
