Douglas Miles presents Chief Naiche, the final hereditary chief of the Chiricahua band of Apache Indians, with a golden halo, an image often associated with religious iconography. Douglas lives on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. Douglas was one of the first artists to create artistic skateboard decks. He created Apache Skateboards, which organizes skateboard contests and curates art shows around the country, especially on Indian reservations in the American Southwest. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institute Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C., the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Warner Brothers Studio, among others.
