Woodrow Wilson (Woody) Big Bow (1914-1988)

Woody Big Bow (Kiowa) was one of the artists who studied under Oscar Jacobson after the success of the Kiowa 6 artists. Big Bow graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1939 and afterward worked variously as a set painter for Western films and as a builder and contractor. He also produced mural decorations for the RCA Building in New York City and the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles. He lived in Yukon, Oklahoma, and extensively exhibited his works throughout his life. His work is in the collections of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum, The Gilcrease Museum, The Philbrook Museum, The Wichita Art Museum, and the National Musuem of the American Indian.
