Precession is Benjamin Blackstar, Sr.'s tribute to the buffalo. His description: "The bison, or buffalo, are a symbolic tribute to the heritage of the Kiowa People, and as an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma I have always paid attention to how the buffalo impacts our ceremonies and history. The three bison are slowly coming out of the brink of extinction. The middle bison, barely seen, is almost insignificant, as the bison were treated during the mass killing. The third bison is the bison we see today, beginning to return to the places they once roamed. The first bison is the future of the species and is bright and vibrant, flourishing. This is how I see my people, flourishing and thriving." Benjamin lives in Anadarko, Oklahoma and earned a BFA at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He has exhibited his work at several locations, including the Southern Plains Indian Museum....
