Al Bahe provides a mystical vision of a sacred figure on sacred ground. The Navajo Yei is sacred. Yei bichai is another name for Talking God, who often speaks on behalf of other Holy People. Tribal elders consider showing exact images of the Yei to be sacrilegious, hence they are often covered with blankets. Al Bahe was born on the Navajo reservation. After serving in the Marine Corps, he attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico on a scholarship provided by the tribal elders. He lives in Shonto Arizona.
