$1,200.00

Buddy is a portrait of one of Mirac Creepingbear’s friends.  Mirac Creepingbear was a self-taught painter. He emulated the works of his Kiowa elders as well as American Western artists Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. He was commissioned, along with other artists, to paint a mural in the Kiowa Tribal Complex in Carnegie, Oklahoma that depicted the history of the Kiowa tribe from its original home in the Yellowstone territory to its establishment in the Great Plains region of the United States.

Creepingbear described his work as follows: “In my work I try to show the strength and character of our people, how we live now. The feeling comes from my heart and my work reflects my feelings of pride for my people. I feel that I am recording history, one person’s view about who we are, the positive as well as the negative aspects of Indian culture.”
