Cheyenne artist Michael Elizondo Jr. is a native of Oklahoma. He received his BFA from Oklahoma Baptist University and his MFA at the University of Oklahoma. Elizondo is the Director of the Bacone College School of Indian Art. He has described his art as follows: “The subject matter of my works have stemmed from the fascination of the aesthetics and meanings within ancient and contemporary design. Through color, shape, and representation, I merge together my life and Indigenous influences to reflect our evolving state. In essence, art making is fun and creating new art forms that symbolize our time, just as all of our ancestors have, is an exciting thing to add to history.”
