Lauren Monroe Jr. is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe located in Montana. He discovered his love for painting while studying at the University of Montana in Missoula. He has said that “Art calmed my frustrations from my first time living off the reservation.” Monroe has also earned a master’s degree in screenwriting and directed and produced Kills Last: A Blackfeet Coup Story, a short sci-fi film. Monroe has stated that his art is “…all grounded in my Blackfeet culture and my contemporary reservation experience.”
