Kevin Red Star was born on the Crow Indian Reservation in Lodge Grass, Montana. He was chosen to be in the first group of students to attend the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. After graduation, he attended the San Francisco Art Institute. Red Star's works are included in the collections of numerous museums, including The Smithsonian Institution - National Museum of the American Indian, the CM Russell Museum, and the Heard Museum. Kevin Red Star created Ready for the Opera lithographs in 1982 to support the Santa Fe Opera. This trial proof for the lithographs was once owned by Austin artist Amado Maurilio Pena, Jr....
