My name is Kashelle Davon and I am a Dine merging artist that specializes in painting, printmaking, and jewelry. I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona and also grew in Las Vegas, Nevada. I recently graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts with my B.F.A. in Studio Arts. My focus is portraiture and landscape that is essential to my story and identity as an Indigenous woman. My work consists of ethereal and energy-based style that encompasses a sense of movement with bold color palettes. I engage themes of interconnection to nature and feminine empowerment. While my recent work is mostly intimate, biographical reflections of my identity, I’m currently shifting toward a new direction. My conceptual shift is incorporating a contemporary perspective of Dine culture that recontextualizes spaces, land and Dine people. Using memory of lived experiences and intuitive process of design, my work aims to highlight and celebrate my tribe and culture. Of all the mediums I’ve practiced, painting is what I’m most passionate about.
