Muscogee Creek Seminole artist Joshua Garrett aka Dead Feather combines shapes, lines, and distorted images in his work. He explores themes that include conflicted spirituality and cultural isolation. Garrett has called his work “porretv”, which means “witchcraft” in the Muscogee Creek language. Regarding the Dead Feather concept, Garrett has said: “Dead Feather is my battle with cultural isolation, conflicted spirituality, over consumption and being deaf. The feather represents whatever you want it to.” Garrett lives in Oklahoma.
