Bryan Waytula

Bryan Waytula is a third-generation Cherokee artist. Both his grandmother (Betty Scraper-Garner) and his mother (Vivian Cottrell) are Master Craftsmen and Cherokee Treasures in the art of basketry. Waytula earned an art scholarship to the Univeristy of Oklahoma, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. After teaching high school for thirteen years, Waytula retired from teaching to focus on his art. Waytula’s art often combines Native culture with pop imagery. Waytula has exhibited at shows in Los Angeles, Santa Fe, and many other locations.
