Brent Learned

Brent Learned is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. He was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1993. Learned paints under his Arapaho name, Haa-Naa-Jaa-Ne-Doa, to honor his mother. Learned describes his work as follows: “I’m an artist who draws, paints and sculpts the Native American Indian in a contemporary style. I have always appreciated the heritage and culture of the American Plains Indian. I try to create artwork to capture the essence, accuracy, and historic authenticity of the American Plains Indian way of life. Although I have many different styles, I’m typically known for the use of bold vibrant colors in my depictions of the American Plains Indian.” Learned’s work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., the Cheyenne/Arapaho Museum in Clinton, Oklahoma, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Brent paints under his Arapaho name, Haa-Naa-Jaa-Ne-Doa, to honor his mother. Brent was born and raised in Oklahoma. His work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., the Cheyenne/Arapaho Museum in Clinton, Oklahoma, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma....
