Alicia Saltina Marie Clark is Caddo Hasinai. She weaves together myth, legends, mystery, and the Native American portrait in her work. Clark has struggled with observing her culture disappear. Her paintings seek to embrace the past and preserve her tribe’s culture and beliefs. “I research by looking at old photos, old books, and old stories. Then I take in the patterns and colors around me and collaborate them all together.” Clark describes her art as layered. She layers charcoal and graphite, acrylics and latex to tell a story about her ancestors. Clark lives in Oklahoma.
