Adrian Standing Elk Pinnecoose is a Navajo/Southern Ute artist who specializes in 2-D creations, fashion, and 3-D printed jewelry. He grew up in an artistic family. One of the inspirations for his art is a rug design weaved by his great-grandmother. Pinnecoose translates that concept into his 2-D graphics, fashion, and jewelry designs. Pinnecoose obtained a master’s degree in computational ecologies from the University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture and Planning in 2017. He often combines geometric shapes to create innovative designs in his art, using computer-generated designs. Pinnecoose describes his work as “new indigenous art for the next generation.” He has been in a wheelchair almost all his life as a result of spinal muscular atrophy.
