WYLD GALLERY FEATURED ARTIST

Discover Larry

Without any planned subject, my pallet knife glides across canvas in rhythm. I continue laying down pure color and strong contrast until oil paint covers throughout.  It’s time to step back to study the still raw expression. Like faces in the clouds, I start to see bison and eagles, indigenous men and women, deer and moose, hunters and the hunted.   My goal is a painting that will capture the viewer at a glance, and then draw them in with intrigue.

Larry's Story

The subjects are often revealed to me quickly, but sometimes they’re more elusive.  When the vision is ultimately discovered, I accentuate it so the viewers can discover at their own pace.  They usually see part of my vision from the start, then realize there is more there than they initially observed.  Soon more subjects appear, some enhanced by choice while others are left in the abstract form.  Every new discovery captivates the viewers, and keeps them exploring every inch for what other hidden treasures may yet be revealed.
