Karma Henry

WYLD GALLERY FEATURED ARTIST

Discover Karma

Karma Henry is a Paiute/Italian/Portuguese artist.
Her current bodies of work are related to place, experience and pattern. Reflections of
simple forms and shapes (from basketry designs, natural materials such as shells or
plant life, as well as architectural elements and geometrical forms) have become
overlays for landscape imagery. The juxtaposed images are a visual interpretation her
experiences.
Karma Henry belongs to the Great Basin Native Artists group.
You can see her work and updates at KarmaHenry.com

Karma's Story

I am an enrolled member of the Fort Independence Paiute Community of California. I served as Vice-Chairman (2016-2018) for my tribe on the Fort Independence Indian Reservation in the beautiful Owens Valley of Eastern California.

I hope to serve again in the future.  My other career included over a decade of working as a Certified Surgical Technologist before going back to school to pursue my love of art.

I belong to the Great Basin Native Artists (GBNA) group, (founded by Melissa Melero- Moose) which was created to provide more art exposure to smaller native communities. The GBNA has allowed for more opportunities to share my work in native exhibitions, with other native artists, and the general public.

I especially appreciate meeting so many other Great Basin Paiute artists. Like many artists, all aspects of my past and present inform my work. From life in the operating room, on the reservation involved in tribal government, or studying art, I often store up my experiences only to synthesize them and express in my studio practice.
